Where is the liver located in your body?

The liver is located in the right upper abdomen and is mostly protected by the ribs. Because it is a very flaccid organ, there is a cap around it that offers protection. Due to swelling of the liver as a result of, for example, inflammation, the capsule comes under tension, which is experienced as vague pain.

The image above shows how the liver relates to the location of other organs such as stomach and pancreas (pancreas). The liver weighs between 1-1.5 kg and 1 liter of blood per minute flows through it mainly from the intestinal area (75%). The liver is a very flexible organ. The size of the liver is adapted to the needs of the body. If a piece is cut away, it quickly grows back to the volume it was before the operation.
